A group of first years helped third year Fleur Isbell print wood type from every drawer in the Letterpress area, following her detailed plan. It was printed in silver ink onto a roll of thin paper, using japanese barens to print the type by hand.
This week we will be looking at relief printing in more detail, and talking about the letterpress part of the project; you should have some (short) ideas for this by now. You should all have one print pretty much finished, and the second in progress. Don't forget that you can work on your Etching plates, putting on another ground and adding more drawing, or using Aquatint for solid tonal areas, see blog post 23rd March. Using the reduction method, you can print another colour on your Lino prints, see previous blog post, 30th March.
Bring sketchbooks, prints, Etching plates, Lino blocks, money to buy materials, and a snack to keep you going until 7pm. See you all tomorrow.
