Drawing

The mention of drawing seemed to shock a few of you last week.  Don't feel dismayed at the prospect of having to draw, it's the backbone of everything you make, design and invent.  And it is central to etching, which relies heavily on drawing; think of etching as an extension of drawing.  It doesn't mean that you have to draw realistically, or to scale, or produce life drawings with lots of measurement marks and perfect perspective;  drawing, however you do it, is a way of getting your ideas down on paper.  To cheer you up, here is Giacometti drawing , a short clip from a film of Giacometti in his studio, drawing, and working on a clay figure.  He seemed to enjoy it....
