Third Workshop Session, Wednesday 30th March

Meet in the studio at 1.30pm.

Eat something before you get here.
Bring money to pay for materials.

I'm going to talk about Letterpress and show examples of work by students and samples from a commercial printer. Look back through this blog and read about Alan Kitching or go and look at some of the Letterpress books I've mentioned in the library. The poster on the left was designed by Anthony Burrill and printed by Adams of Rye.
I'm also going to show you how to work on your etching plates, using soft ground, aquatint and spit-bite.
We will also recap on reduction printing using Lino, as some of you will want to print a second colour today.

Steve will be over at 2pm to run the last 2 Letterpress introductions for groups of 5 at a time. This is your last chance today to learn the basics, be shown how to use the type and equipment properly, and do the necessary Health and Safety induction.
There is no lecture on Wednesday, so we will work through to 7pm with a couple of breaks.
